My first job out of college was in recruiting. I worked for a rapidly growing company in South Florida that increased staff from 200 to 4,000 in a just a few years. It was a great experience. All of those smiling faces ready to embark on a new adventure. I guess from that experience I’ve always had an affinity for recruiters, but that wasn’t what attracted me to Gosselin/Martin Associates.
Here were two gentlemen, Jack Gosselin and Peter Martin, with former healthcare facilities engineering leadership experience, that decided to leave their respective trades and embark on an adventure to find the best people for what I consider to be one very challenging job. To match facilities engineering leaders with healthcare organizations across the country, to offer leadership training, succession planning, and a call-in advice hotline. It’s brilliant!
Healthcare facilities engineering leadership requires such a unique skill set. And it’s not something little boys and girls dream of being when they grow up, is it? (If you dreamed of being a healthcare facilities manager as a kid please drop me a note.) They are not MD’s, but they can directly affect the health and well-being of patients, visitors, and staff. That is an incredible responsibility.
Like almost every healthcare facility manager I’ve met, Jack and Pete are humble, very knowledgeable, and benevolent. They are givers. Anyone that has followed their careers has seen how much time they have contributed to the American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE), or all of the knowledge that is shared through High Reliability, The Healthcare Facilities Management Podcast. Like a groupie, I wanted to be a part of that. So I followed the band as they went from gig to gig each year, mostly national ASHE, and in July of 2018 they finally said it, “Let’s work together”.
My goal when I founded HFM Cornerstone in 2019 was to bring to facilities leaders a select group of outstanding products and services. What better service is there than career advancement, leadership education, and mentorship? That’s what Gosselin/Martin Associates has delivered for over a decade, and I’m so honored to be a part of their team. If I can introduce one more facilities leader to their services, if I can educate one more hospital executive on their unique value proposition, that’s a sound contribution to an industry I have enormous respect for. That is why I represent Gosselin/Martin Associates. Thank you Jack and Pete!
